WAAC Rules

Hours + Access
Our facilities are open to WAAC students twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Your electronic key fob operates the front and rear doors of 1001 Prince Street, as well as the external doors of 1021 Prince Street, including the shop entrance. For everyone’s safety, make sure the door fully closes behind you whenever you enter or exit a building. Never lend your fob to another person, not even a classmate. If you do, you will be held responsible for any and all of that person’s actions. If you lose your key fob, inform the main office immediately. We’ll issue you a new one right away and deactivate the lost fob.
Studio Conduct
Studio time is the heart of your education. Know that you express your design values not only in your work, but in the way you treat your environment. You are not allowed to spray mount or spray paint in any way that will affect school property. Take extra care when using soldering irons, glue guns, or toxic materials. Be sure not to leave valuable personal belongings such as wallets, purses, laptops, or cellphones unattended. Lock them away somewhere safe if necessary.
Shop Conduct
The wood and metal shop is the most dangerous work area at the WAAC and should be treated as such. Follow all instructions. Do not remove equipment or tools from the shop area. Clean up after using this area: that includes putting things away and sweeping the floor. You may not use the shop until you have attended a shop orientation session. No one is to work alone in the shop for ANY reason, and violation will result in immediate dismissal.
Laser Cutters
Laser cutters are located in the 1001 Prince Street basement. You may not use this equipment until you have attended an orientation session.
Photography Lab
Lights, chemicals, and other photographic equipment are fragile and must be handled correctly. Follow all instructions. Clean up the photography studio and the darkrooms after use. Do not remove equipment or tools from either of these areas.
Trash Disposal + Recycling
Please help keep our facilities clean by depositing trash and recyclables into the appropriate containers, especially in shop areas. You may deposit large items into one of the dumpsters at the rear of the WAAC parking lot.
No Smoking, No Fires!
The WAAC allows no smoking or open flames – no exceptions. Violation of this rule will result in immediate dismissal. Please familiarize yourself with building exits and the locations of fire extinguishers. If the fire alarm sounds, immediately exit the building.
