Hours + Access
Our facilities are open to WAAC students twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Your electronic key fob operates the front and rear doors of 1001 Prince Street, as well as the shop entrance and the front doors of 601 Prince Street. Make sure the door fully closes behind you as you enter or exit a building, especially when using a rear door. Never lend your key fob to another person: if you do, you will be held responsible for any and all of that person’s actions. If you lose your key fob, inform the main office immediately. We will issue you a new one and deactivate the lost fob. Everyone’s security depends on you!
Studio time is the heart of your education. Know that you express your design values not just in your work, but in the way you treat your environment. You are not allowed to spray mount or spray paint in any way that will affect school property. Take extra care when using soldering irons, glue guns, or toxic materials. Be sure not to leave valuable personal belongings such as wallets, purses, laptops, or cellphones unattended. Lock them away somewhere safe if need be.
The wood and metal shop is the most dangerous work area at the WAAC and should be treated as such. Follow all instructions. Do not remove equipment or tools from the shop area. Clean up after using this area: that includes putting things away and sweeping the floor. You may not use the shop until you have attended a shop orientation session. The shop is open from 6:00am to midnight, seven days a week.
No one is to work alone in the shop for ANY reason. This is for everyone’s safety. Violation will result in immediate dismissal.
Laser cutters are located in both the 1001 Prince Street and 601 Prince Street buildings. You may not use either of the cutters until you have attended an orientation session.
Lights, chemicals, and other photographic equipment are fragile and must be handled correctly. Follow all instructions. Clean up the photography studio and the darkrooms after use. Do not remove equipment or tools from either of these areas.
Trash Disposal + Recycling
Please help keep our facilities clean by depositing trash and recyclables into the provided containers, especially in shop areas. You may deposit large items into the dumpster at the rear of the 1001 Prince parking lot.
The parking lot at 1001 Prince Street is restricted to faculty/staff permit parking during business hours: 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Students may only use the lot outside of business hours.
The Gallery offers a limited number of paid parking spaces for students. If you’re interested in purchasing one, please contact email@example.com. Please note: any WAAC student may purchase a space, not just Gallery residents.
No Smoking, No Fires!
The WAAC allows no smoking and no open flames – no exceptions. Violation of this rule will result in immediate dismissal. Please familiarize yourself with building exits and locations of fire extinguishers. If the fire alarm sounds, immediately exit the building.
