Three Alumni Win Green Awards

Three School of Architecture + Design alumni recently received Awards of Excellence from the National Capital Region Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council.

Member Firm of the Year Award for a Design Firm was awarded to Envision Design for their committed mission of environmental innovation and contribution to the design of many of the nation’s top environmental organizations. Envision also assisted many major corporations in transitioning into LEED office spaces. Ken Wilson (B.Arch 1981) is a Principal in Envision.

Member Firm of the Year Award for a Client Firm was awarded to Discovery Communications. Discovery Communications’ choice of downtown Silver Spring, Maryland for their corporate headquarters was one of the driving factors in revitalization that urban area. Marc Alan Parsons (M.Arch 2001) is Director of Design at Discovery Communications.

Commercial Interior: Office Project of the Year Award was presented to Fox Architects for their project, BP America, Inc. Government Affairs Office in Washington, DC. Andy Yeh (B.Arch 1997) is a Principal at Fox Architects.

Susan Piedmont-Palladino, Professor of Architecture at the Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center, was one of the members of the selection committee for the 2009 awards program.
