Students Build New Farmers’ Market in Covington

Students in Marie and Keith Zawistowski’s 3rd-year architecture studio spent the year designing and building a new farmers’ market in downtown Covington, Virginia, with help from a grant from the Alleghany Foundation. Students prefabricated most of the parts for the roof structure in Blacksburg, using reclaimed wood, salvaged from an old warehouse in Clifton Forge. In May, the prefabricated parts were transported to Covington, and students spent two weeks there assembling the structure.
