David Chance’s photographs selected for exhibition
Architecture alumnus David Chance (B.Arch., Virginia Tech, 1997) has recently had his photographs included in a number of juried exhibitions.
Photographs from Mr. Chance’s New York and Italy Portfolios were exhibited at the Pavilion Center in Virginia Beach from September 8th through October 31st, 2008. The exhibition opening was held on Thursday, September 11, 2008.
Photographs from his New York Portfolio were exhibited at the Russell Memorial Library in Chesapeake, Virginia from July 1 – 31, 2008. For more information, please see the exhibition announcement.
Three of Mr. Chance’s photographs — “Portovenere Composition,” “New York Composition 2,” and “Home” — were accepted into the 18th Annual Mid-Atlantic Art Exhibition at d’Art Center in Selden Arcade in Norfolk. The juror for this exhibition was Claudia Rousseau from the School of Art & Design at Montgomery College in Maryland. The exhibition opening was held on Friday, April 25, 2008.
“New York Composition #2,” “New York Composition #3,” and “New York Composition #10,” from his New York Portfolio, were selected for the April Regional Art Juried Exhibition at the Fredericksburg Center for the Creative Arts (www.fccava.org ) in Fredericksburg, Virginia. The Juror for this exhibition was Ms. Catriona Fraser, Director of the Fraser Gallery in Bethesda, Maryland. The exhibition ran from April 4 through April 28, 2008.
“Tuscan Composition #1” and “Line Composition #1” were selected for the 6th National Juried Exhibition at the Rome Art Coterie in Rome, Georgia (www.romeartcoterie.org ). The Juror for this exhibition was Dr. Linda Hightower, Chair of the Department of Visual Arts at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. The exhibition ran from March 31 through May 2, 2008.
Another photograph was selected as a finalist in the 7th Annual International Photography Competition of the Fraser Gallery in Bethesda, Maryland (www.thefrasergallery.com ). The photograph, “Untitled No. 3,” was part of an exhibition that ran from February 8 to March 8, 2008.
The photograph, “New York Composition I,” also from his New York Portfolio, was selected to become part of a permanent exhibition at Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Shepherd Center is a private, not-for-profit hospital devoted to the care and rehabilitation of people with spinal cord injury and disease, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis and other neuromuscular conditions. The exhibition consisted of 77 photographs selected from over 1300 submissions. The submissions were judged and selected by Julian Cox, curator of photography at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and Jane Jackson curator of the Sir Elton John Photography Collection. The exhibition is permanently housed in the new Jane Woodruff Pavilion at Shepherd Center.
Two photographs from the New York Portfolio were also selected as finalists in the 14th Annual AIA Miami International Photography Competition. These two photographs were exhibited among the top twenty (of over 400) entries at the 2007 AIA Miami International Photography Exhibition held at the Gallery of The School of Architecture of the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida during “Celebrate Architecture 2007.” The photographs were retained for the AIA Miami permanent collection.
