Materials and Design (MAD) Lab

MAD Lab is a student run shop located in Burchard Hall and will serve as a prototyping space for Industrial Design Students. The goal of the lab is to create a community where students have hands on experiences with faculty and their peers to better develop their prototyping skills as designers. Part of the experience is getting to practice a variety of materials such as stainless steel, bamboo, and foam. MAD Lab has new tools such as a CO2 Laser Cutter, a Probotix CNC machine, and a drag knife Shapeoko. The shop is open everyday with staff always present to help others, as well as to uphold safety requirements such as wearing safety glasses and dust masks.
