Vincent Haley is an Industrial Designer, Studio Engineer, Educator, Father, and Man of Faith all rolled into one! Vince has accumulated over 31 years of industry experience in both corporate and consulting settings. He’s garnered 39+ patents and has designed everything from totes to toasters, and fiddles to furniture. One area of investment that has commanded Professor Haley’s energies is Assistive Technology and Medical device design. Serving in the capacity of Studio Engineer at Tekna Inc. a Kalamazoo Michigan based Industrial Design consultancy, Vince developed surgical instruments for Stryker Medical. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech Vince worked abroad in Sydney Australia for ResMed Ltd. within the Patient Interface Division. There, he developed CPAP devices aimed at relieving the debilitating affects of those suffering from sleep apnea.

Pertaining to education, Vince has come to be known as “SkillCoach” acting in the capacity of Creative and Technical Skill Development Coach serving both industry and academia. Vince has taught in an adjunct capacity at four major universities, The Ohio State University., North Carolina State, The Cleveland Institute of Art, and Cedarville University/ICC respectively. Additionally, owing to his expertise in CAD/CAID modeling theory and Class-A Surfacing, major corporations such as Newell Brands, Whirlpool, Stryker, and ResMed among others have called upon him to develop best practices, conduct workshops, and mentor staff. The aim, to nurture the growth and capabilities of staff such that they can efficiently carryout the creative and technical activities associated with developing a product from art-to-part.
