Peter VanderPoel, AIA

Adjunct Instructor

After earning a B.Arch from the University of Kansas and an M.Arch from Virginia Tech, Peter worked for 20 years as an associate in commercial and residential firms in Kansas City and Alexandria, VA. Since then, he has been a member of the faculty at Howard University’s College of Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Science for 9 years and has maintained a private practice in Arlington, VA. Peter’s private residential work has been recognized for its implementation of sustainable design in Arlington’s Green Home Choice Program.

In graduate school, he was introduced to intaglio printmaking which led him to explore other 2-dimensional art forms. His prints, watercolors, and oil paintings have been exhibited in numerous galleries and exhibitions in the region and around the country.

Peter VanderPoel is licensed to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
