Randall Mars began his firm, Randall Mars Architects, in McLean, Virginia in 1989. Since then, the firm has been recognized with over thirty state and local awards for its designs for residential additions, renovations, and new homes, as well as for commercial office buildings and interiors. Randall Mars Architects was named Top Local Modern Architect by Home and Design Magazine in 2011, Top 100 Architects and Designers in 2016-2020 and selected Best of Houzz in 2013, 2016, 2017, and 2020. Mars was chosen Top Architect by Virginia Living in 2018, 2019, and 2020. The firm has been published in Washingtonian, Home and Design, Builder, Residential Architect, Abode 2016, Dream Homes of Greater Washington D.C., and featured on the cover of Home and Design in November 2019.

Mr. Mars has taught design studios for interior design as an adjunct professor at Marymount University, and Professional Practice at Virginia Tech since 2015. Randall Mars received the Award of Honor from AIA Northern Virginia Chapter in 2021.
