Brook Kennedy is an award-winning industrial designer driven by human empathy and societal needs. With twenty years of experience through his own design practice and renowned agencies like Smart Design and MGDG, he has defined and shaped some of the world’s most respected brands. In addition to current advising roles with companies and startups, he also pursues a design research agenda with early-stage natural science discoveries in areas of water management and next generation renewable materials. Many of these projects have earned critical acclaim and attracted media coverage including PBS Newshour, BBC Newsday, the Boston Globe, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Fast Company and the Verge. Kennedy teaches the next generation of designers to leverage Human-Centered Design and emerging technology opportunistically and responsibly to create lasting value for people and society. Previously he has taught and served as a critic at both Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design in New York. He holds 20 international design awards including IDEA Gold, Red Dot Best of the Best, iF, Chicago Athenaeum, Spark, A’ Design and Consumer Reports as well as 18 patents and 2 pending.
