Jacques Gubler, Architectural Theorist

Prof. Jacques Gubler, Prof. Emeritus of Theory and History of Architecture, Accademia di Architettura (Mendrisio) and ETH Lausanne, will be visiting the School of Architecture + Design from Nov. 2nd through Nov. 9th.
Prof. Gubler is an expert on Modern Architecture, especially the use of reinforced concrete. He has taught both in the US and Europe and lectured around the world. His broad range of work in theory and history places him among the top scholars in architecture. In the past, Prof. Gubler has guided a number of Virginia Tech students in study abroad programs to architecture sites in both in the Ticino and Basel. While on campus, he will deliver five lectures on the work of Jean Tschumi in the context of Modern Architecture. He will also be available for conversations and critiques.
In addition to the Thursday 2 pm lecture, Prof. Gubler will be giving a series of lectures throughout the week:
