Prof. Brian Katen’s research explores the archival and liminal dimensions of landscape, the persistence and materiality of memory in everyday, vernacular, and ephemeral landscapes. His current work is focused on Virginia’s landscapes of memory during the eras of segregation and Jim Crow.
