Dr. Ed Jackson, Jr., Executive Architect for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Foundation
Dr. Jackson will give an interactive lecture on his experience with the fifteen-year process of seeing the MLK Memorial through from concept to competition to completion.
Also on Friday, January 20, 11:00 am – 12:30 pm, in the Art + Architecture Library, Cowgill 100, the CAUS Diversity Committee will host a student debate, “Memorializing MLK: Identity and Representation in Cultural Heritage Design.” Sam Winn, Collections Archivist, University Libraries, will moderate the debate examining principles, practices, and implications for the design of cultural heritage sites. Student debaters include undergraduate and graduate students from the fields of Africana Studies, Architecture, Building Construction, and Urban Planning.
