These exercises both develop and monitor emerging positions on design practice.
These individual design concerns rely on the products of intuitive actions and decisions based on specific methods of inquiry and approach. They are artifacts produced from material practice research and the processes of constructive imagination.
These design formulations develop within compound fields of inquiry and are ambiguous in nature, emergent in condition, and deeply complex in both situation and alternative.
These proposals in the public realm are particular examples of the beautiful complexities of emergent ideas and design behaviors produced in first year undergraduate foundation studio. They are the fertile ground upon which intuitive gains inform actions, and design proposals situate themselves within a pedagogical and professional discourse.
Each student’s work directly advances their stance toward a theory of design practice.
