The CAUS Commencement Ceremony begins promptly at 8:30am on Saturday, May 18th in the Auditorium of Burruss Hall. Graduate must not carry purses or any other personal items.
Graduates must arrive between 7:15-7:30am NO LATER and report to the following locations. College staff will be on hand to guide you throughout the morning:
+ PHD and Master’s Candidates: Go to third floor of Burruss on the side of the building closest to Norris.
+ Bachelor’s Candidates for the School of Architecture + Design: Go to second floor hall of Burruss on side closest to Johnston Student Center.
Due to space limitations, guests are not permitted to line up with graduates.
REGALIA IS REQUIRED – all graduates participating in Commencement must obtain appropriate academic apparel (gown, cap, and tassel) from the University Bookstore. Honors sashes are distributed by the Bookstore to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher and undergraduates who have completed 60 Virginia Tech hours.
INFORMATION CARD – When you arrive for line-up, you will be given a card and pen or pencil. Please fill out the card with all requested information and hold onto it tightly. As you walk onto the stage, you will hand the card to a college representative. Your name will be read aloud as you cross the stage to accept your degree and shake hands with the Dean and pause for a photograph.
PHOTOGRAPHER – The University has commissioned a professional photographer for this event. You will receive an email from the photography studio. Purchasing your photograph is optional; you are under no obligation to purchase your commencement photo.
INFORMATION FOR YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS:
+ Tickets: Tickets are not required for this event. There are no restrictions on the number of guests that each graduate can bring.
+ Arrival: Beginning at 8am, family and friends may enter the front doors of Burruss Hall. All guests should expect to have their bags examined by security personnel. Strollers must be parked in the main lobby.
