On January 25, 2019, the Industrial Design Program welcomes two representatives from the Floyd Energy Fair to discuss to discuss energy conservation and renewable energy technology.
Billy Weitzenfeld is the Executive Director of the Association of Energy Conservation Professionals (AECP) and has served in this capacity for 20 years. AECP is a non-profit energy education and statewide trade association located in Floyd, Virginia. Previous to this, Mr. Weitzenfeld was the Weatherization Director for New River Community Action and held this position for 10 years. Mr. Weitzenfeld has extensive experience in Weatherization, energy education, training, legislative advocacy, fundraising, non-profit management, renewable energy, green building and program and policy development. He is a certified Home Energy rater, holds a tradesman license as a Master in Heating, Ventilation, and Air –Conditioning (HVAC) and is a licensed Residential Building Energy Analyst. He is currently President of Sustain Floyd and is the past Executive Director of the Sustainable Living Education Center.
Rick Brown is the owner of SolShine Energy, an electrical and solar contractor based in Floyd County. A former electrical engineer, he has 30 years of experience working in the electrical/electronic engineering field along with 10 years in the field of photovoltaics. Rick is also a NABCEP certified PV Installation Professional and a Virginia Master Electrician.
